On Sunday night VFILES hosted a special NYFW event in New York in collaboration with the Hard Rock Hotel called “VFILES ROCKS”. Aiming to showcase new artists, designers and creatives, a series of star-studded performances took place alongside a fashion show. Hosted by founder Julie Anne Quay, the goal of the event was to raise awareness of the VFILES Foundation, an organization that aims to increase business ownership for creators in underrepresented communities by providing grants, mentoring and skills training. Reflecting its founding values, VFILES has produced a diverse lineup of acts including Baby Tate, Cash Cobain, Chow Lee, Doechii, Pheelz, Tweek Tune, King of Spank, Gabe Stone Shayer, Del Water Gap and DJ Hank Korsan. .
“It was so exciting to be back at fashion week doing what we do best. challenging the status quo and pushing the boundaries of what a fashion show is and even more so what fashion is in 2022. Music has always been the voice of VFILES. Tonight we started a discussion about sustainability. It’s a complex one and something that the VFILES Foundation plans to explore in depth with future lab and product development in 2023.” Quai said.
Blending pop culture and fashion, performers teamed up with a designer or dressed in vintage to emphasize sustainability. Featuring new designers such as Dr X Romanelli, MENYELEK, Ari Serrano, Courtney MC, Kid Super, KARMA, Misora Nakamori, KOZABURO, DR NOKI along with vintage pieces from What Goes Around Comes Around. Attendees came to impress and were seen dressed in styles ranging from grudge punk to hot pink monochrome ensembles. The show opened with DJ Hank Korsen, known for his electrifying sets and mixes, followed by artist Del Water Gap accompanied by American Ballet Theatre’s Gabe Stone Shayer. It took an upbeat turn when female artists Baby Tate, Doechii and Nigerian singer Phleez performed their solo sets. Closing artists Cash Cobain and Chow Lee performed songs from their latest album “2 Slizzy 2 Sexy (Deluxe)” which left the audience feeling excited and excited. The event brought together industry figures like B Lovee, Isaiah Rashad, Kali, Lil Pump and more to truly celebrate New York City culture.
Earlier in the week, VFILES opened a 3-day pop-up in collaboration with Jaded London. The UK-based brand took over the store and joined forces to design a collection of exclusive merchandise that was only available in-store. The design of the interior of the store, such as the walls and windows, had a double logo and made visitors feel as if they had been transported to the city of London. The two brands offered space for video games and iron shirt personalisation, while the merchandise consisted of t-shirts, classic football scarves, hoodies, jeans, boxers, rucksacks, hats and many other British flag emblazoned memorabilia. . All proceeds went to the VFILES Foundation.
