Secretlab’s Fortnite Battle Bus Chair is comfortable, if a bit large

Look, I can’t break new ground in the “gamer’s chair”. They are known: bulky, expensive and often flamboyant statements of Fortnite prowessstuffed with blue Ninja hair (I wish remember it with love) for good luck. To accept the gamer’s chair is to accept the implication of Dorito dust. To I know the gamer chair is for letting your pantsless butt sit on it for a long time.

I can’t tell you anything new about gaming chairs—they’re still fancy and expensive—but I’ve been sitting on my butt Fortnite The Battle Bus version of the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 series has been around for a while now, and I can tell you that it honestly does the job

The Fortnite part

First we need to address the Battle Bus in the room. I dont play Fortnite, but when Secretlab asked me if I wanted to review their latest Titan special edition, I thought it might be funny. For whom? I’m not sure.

For me, I guess. It’s just the Fortnite Battle Bus gaming chair. It’s magical. It feels like it Fortnite The Battle Bus chair could be the egg from which MrBeast hatched, emerging fully grown, grinning his menacing bite teeth player.

It’s a conversation piece. When people see mine Fortnite chair, they ask, ‘is this a Fortnite chair?” And, you know what, it is. It has turquoise embroidery that says FORTNITE on the front. This is to let everyone know that this normal-looking main chair is actually a Fortnite chair. In came some of the chair accessories Fortnite-themed boxes, too, but, in general, it’s a normal chair that says FORTNITE.

I hoped, however, that the Fortnite The Battle Bus chair would look more like a Battle Bus seat so I could finally combine my love of toys, public transport and hot air balloon technology. Alas, the Fortnite The chair only features an embroidered image of the Battle Bus on its back. You have to look at its pink threads in the sunset to imagine yourself floating in the airborne Battle Bus—your butt will never know the feeling.

Setting up the chair

The Fortnite The gamer chair, in a huge cardboard box that a few friends and I could use as a makeshift Noah’s ark, was delivered on August 22nd. That’s three weeks of seat time for those of you watching.

This particular version of the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 is available for pre-order directly from the Secretlab website at $624 for small and regular sizes, the latter of which is recommended for people up to 6’2″ and under 220 pounds, and $674 for the extra large size, which is recommended for people up to 6’9″ and 395 pounds. This size inclusion is appreciated and a staple of Secretlab chairs—in a 2017 review of the Titan, large and Kotaku employee Mike Fahey he wrote that the chair was a “nice place to spend hours at your ample end.”

Right after the delivery of the big box, my Legion of Legends the friend and I started to assemble the chair. Overall, the process was simple and easily explained by the huge poster-sized instruction sheet that came with it, but the chair is quite heavy and you’ll need a friend if you’re pea-sized and weak like me. The box comes with strips of thin foam to place heavy pieces on and make it easier to move though, which is helpful. All said, its set up Fortnite The chair took about 50 sweaty minutes.

Sitting on the chair

I immediately started to sit in the chair. Who wouldn’t? It is a chair for Fortnite.

It has all the comfort-focused features of a standard Titan Evo 2022 chair, means things like a proprietary Synthetic skin, curved seat for “ergonomic support” and adjustable lumbar support. It’s a stiff chair, which may take some getting used to if you’re used to seats with more cushioning or flexibility, but its stiffness ultimately makes it feel more supportive than cramped.

The headrest is a magnetic, detachable pillow. I like that you can place it close to your head or neck, whichever you prefer. The magnet that holds it in place starts at the edge of the chair and ends low enough that I can lay comfortably on the cushion, even though I’m technically too short for the regular-sized chair that Secretlab sent me.

The door to my gaming room was too narrow for the fat man to get through Fortnite chair in there, so I ended up rotating it between my living room and dining room and adjusting the chair in different ways depending on what I was doing. Sitting in the chair for a long time doing different things like typing on my laptop, playing a console game or eating at the table never hurt my back or felt uncomfortable.

An impressive adjustment is the way the chair allows you to go from sitting up straight to leaning almost completely on your back. While watching a Mets game, my non-gamer friend, Will, sat in the game chair and lay down all the way back. It was the longest anyone had ever sat in the chair with the recline that extreme, and there were a few moments when I thought he was going to fall over and get a concussion from the Fortnite chair. But “I feel safe,” he told me when I expressed my concern. “I trust the chair.”

Complaints about the chair

The chair is supportive, kind and loving Fortnite. These are qualities you really have to admire. But, during the assembly of the chair, I was disappointed to remove some intact pieces from their packaging and find that they already had dents on them. This was a review item, but if I had paid the hefty full price for it, I would have been disappointed that the pieces weren’t perfect upon arrival. Likewise, while this chair is happy to give you battle royale-themed support, I’m a fashion nerd and the stitching on this chair, to me, feels fast and loose. Long, loose stitches mean the fabric is held less firmly, creating a garment or, in this case, Fortnite chair, more prone to tearing or rubbing.

This isn’t a complaint as much as it’s a heads up – I was too small for the standard chair at 5’4 and 120 lbs. I still enjoyed sitting on it, but sometimes I felt like a baby pretending to be president and often sat on it cross-legged or with both knees up. The armrests and the height of the chair are not as adjustable as the back of the chair. They move more than transform. So if a chair doesn’t fall into the recommended height and weight category, you may struggle to find a perfect calibration, which is probably what you’re looking for when dropping over $500 on a chair.

This chair and its packaging were also not that aggressive Fortnite-themed as I kind of wanted it to be, so if you’re a Fortnite The superfan is only interested in the chair for its collectability, which should be noted as well. Secretlab also released three Fortnite– memory foam version “Waist Pillows” Modeled after Peely, Llama and Cuddle Team Leader, but you have to pre-order them separately for $59 each and they currently ship two weeks later than the chair. More positively, buying the chair unlocks the rarest in the Chipset Wrap gamewhich was initially only available for purchase Fortnite for one day in 2020.

Final thoughts

The Fortnite The chair is pleasant to sit on and good for people who want to talk to house guests about being a Fortnite chair. Keep in mind that getting the chair to fit will depend on whether or not you get a size that reflects your needs, that the quality of the chair may not be exactly what you want for the price, and that Fortnite the subject is literally deep. First is a chair, Fortnite experience second. Hot air balloon not included.
