During the Tokyo Game Show 2022 today, the winners of the Japan Game Awards were announced. One winner in particular that seems to have people talking on social media is the Switch 2021 title Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

Not only did it win the ‘best seller award’, but it was also recognized as the best Japanese game release worldwide. While the sales award isn’t all that surprising, many trainers online are seemingly confused (and a little disappointed) as to how the remakes snagged the “global” award.
