EastEnders is about to return to screens BBC two tonight (September 9) at 7pm.
The final episode of the soap was postponed yesterday (September 8) following the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death. BBC One’s entire schedule remains dedicated to special programs and special news throughout Friday (September 9).
As part of the coverage of the Queen’s death, BBC radio stations came together to share programmes. BBC Three and BBC Four programs were also suspended.
There will also be further changes to the BBC’s weekend programming as it has been announced that the remaining BBC Proms events, including the Last Night of the Proms concert, have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, ITV also announced changes to its Friday schedule, replacing Lorraine, This morning, Relaxed women and all his daily programming with a special news item.
The schedules of all broadcasters are still subject to change due to the evolving news situation, with the new King Charles III expected to give his first televised address to the country as head of state later today. The government is also expected to confirm a period of national mourning.
A joint statement from BBC chairman Richard Sharpe and director-general Tim Davey read: “On behalf of everyone at the BBC we offer our deepest condolences to the Royal Family following the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

“Her Majesty was the ultimate embodiment of public service. He was a unifying figure across generations, communities and borders, representing the best of our nation.
“We are grateful to the BBC for witnessing, recording and sharing so many of the special moments in her long life and reign. We will always remember her with the greatest affection and admiration.”
The Queen’s eldest son, King Charles III also published a tribute to the late monarch, who reigned for a total of 70 years and 214 days.
“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of greatest sorrow for me and all the members of my family,” the new monarch wrote.
“We deeply mourn the death of a beloved Sovereign and a much loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt across the country, the Kingdoms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.
“During this time of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held.”
EastEnders usually airs Monday-Thursday at 7.30pm. on BBC One. The show is also streaming on BBC iPlayer.
