Brassica Star Damien Molony has opened up about his surprise exit during Season 4 of the hit Sky sitcom.
In an interview with Radio Timesthe actor who plays Vinnie O’Neill’s (Joe Gilgun) best friend Dylan revealed that he would not be returning as a series regular.
The last episode of season 4 saw Dylan brutally put into the trunk of a car as mercenaries kidnapped him. It’s unclear if this is the end of Dylan for good, but as he won’t be returning as a series regular, Molony said filming the scenes was “emotional”.

“They were really exciting scenes to film, no doubt, but also emotional for me,” Moloney explained.
“Because I had four incredible years, basically, of laughing and suddenly shooting these scenes by myself, without the gang … there were a few moments that night where I was like, ‘This is the end.. .'”
The actor revealed that his character would return in some form in season 5 of the show, saying: “There will be a little bit, I think, in series 5.”

Molony said he will miss his fellow cast members even more as he is still included in their WhatsApp group message.
“I’m going to be devastated when the WhatsApp group messages start coming in over the next few weeks when people say, ‘Oh my God, do you remember when that happened on set?’
“I think it’s really exciting for the show to lose a team member and see how that affects the team dynamic. [But] it’s a sad day.”
Brassica Molony and Gilgun star alongside Michelle Keegan, Tom Hanson, Aaron Heffernan, Ryan Sampson and Parth Thakerar.
Brassica Seasons 1-3 are available to watch on Sky Max and NOW. Season 4 will premiere on Sky from Wednesday 7 September.
